My books from the OU contain a lot of those margin notes. Sometimes they refer to another Unit or give some extra information or tell the reader how to pronounce a greek letter or one of those German names. Like in my Number Theory book about Multiplicative functions, there it says:

Euler is pronounced oiler.

When I was reading this, I had to smile and chuckle to myself.
